Kick a VIC out of the MCG in September…or October
by Thomas McLean

An elusive first win of the season appears to be getting closer for Adelaide, but they will go into the match against 17th ranked North Melbourne as underdogs. Despite not getting the four points against Essendon on Sunday, Adelaide finished out the match the stronger team. The Crows had the ball in their forward 50 for much of the final term, but could only manage to kick one goal and six behinds. Lachlan Murphy kicked a game high three goals and Taylor Walker continued his good recent form with four contested marks and two goals.

North Melbourne suffered their sixth consecutive loss, going down to Carlton by seven points at the Gabba on Saturday. The Roos gave the Blues a head start, which saw them trailing by 23 points at the first break. North then won the second and third quarters, but were never quite able to wrestle back the lead. Their best chance was on the stroke of three quarter time when Jared Polec had marked 30m from goal, directly in front. Before he could take his shot, Jasper Pittard put Marc Murphy on his backside and Polec lost the opportunity to give North both the lead and the momentum going into the final term.
