Tigers midfield far too potent for Double Blues
By Karl Carrington

Sturt play host to Glenelg in the final round of the regular season. The Tigers have locked up a spot in the finals, and could finish as high as third if second placed North Adelaide take care of business against South Adelaide. Sturt cannot play finals and will come into this game looking to finish the season with pride.

Glenelg come into this game on the back off a nail-biting one point victory, beating Central District on their home deck. Among the stronger performers for the Bays were Michael Virgin, who collected 30 possessions and Matthew Snook who had 28 disposals and kicked two majors. Callum Park and Luke Partington also put in solid showings, each collecting 25 or more disposals and hitting the scoreboard. Darcy Bailey also slotted two goals.

The Double Blues come into this game after suffering defeat to the North Adelaide Roosters by 31 points. Among the leading possession-getters was Sam Colquhoun, who led the charge with 33 disposals. He also laid seven tackles. Other contributors included Abe Davis, James Battersby and Tom Lewis who all collected 20 or more disposals. Daniel Fahey-Sparks and Jed McEntee were the best in front of the big sticks, kicking two majors each. Mark Evans had 16 disposals and kicked one goal.

This game will mean more to Glenelg as the potential reward is far greater, with a spot in the top three up for grabs, pending on other results. For Sturt, it will be a good test to see where their list and team is at going in to season 2021. I can only see this game going one way, as I predict a convincing victory for the Bays. They will want to make a strong statement heading into finals. However, Sturt will be hoping to put in a strong display on their home deck, where they will be hoping to impress their fans in what has been in a disappointing season, albeit under difficult circumstances. This game will be dictated in the midfield, with the Tigers having more class than the Double Blues in that department.
